Name-a-rama-thon

Stephanie's sister is having a baby girl. Debate swirls regarding prospective names. The father is sold on Addy, short for Adelaide or possibly Addison. Thoughts?

Check out the Baby Name Wizard Voyager first. I posted some thoughts here

I like "Erin" and "Pearl."

First Child.

I like Adelaide much more than Addison, which is a LAST NAME. Even Google will tell you that. But Ryan's is classic, especially if the child is partially Chinese.

Incidentally, it's a second child, if that matters. The first child is, appropriately, a son name Liam.

I mean, "named" Liam. Also, feel free to make suggestions, but please also offer feedback on Addison or Adelaide, which are currently the strongest contenders.

Jesus Christ, don't they know Liam is supposed to be short for William.

"Addison, which is a LAST NAME. Even Google will tell you that."

I'm sorry, but this from the (beautiful) woman who wanted to name our (hypothetical) daughter Madison? Babe, Addison has been part of the "last names are first names" wave that includes Madison, Mckenzie, and Taylor.

Should I pretend to know Stephanie's sister well enough to choose an appropriate name for her baby? This is the sister whose husband made us pee in the backyard?

Adelaide's not bad, really. I kinda like it. Addison's not so hot. More important, though, is that parents, even young parents, are fundamentally uncool, and there needs to be a good, usable nickname a kid can escape to. Addy's not too bad on that count, although the spelling is stupid.

Well, quite frankly, I can't say i truly appreciate either name. Addison, sounds too much like "Had a son" and Adelaide assuming you pronounce the e is "Had a laid," which reminds me of the term - I've been laid. Not sure which is worse. But maybe I'm thinking too much. My friend's sister had a baby, and she was named Alexia....I liked that one. Or Alexis, wait that sound slike a car, or what about Adrianna.

Madison was supposed to be a middle name. Cordelia Madison Fornaca. Not just Madison Fornaca. geez. Get it right, Zachary Houston Fornaca.

Addison just reminds me of Addison's Disease, which is nothing I'd like my child to remind me of.

Cordelia Madison Fornaca? Have you told me this before? Because no. Zack, you must stand up to her with all your might. (Sorry, Lydia. I adore you, but that's just bad.)

Addison is terrible (a last name and a disease). I would go with Adelaide as the lesser of two evils. I'm not wild about it, though.
